Businesses have rallied around a community-led pre school in Greetland, Halifax after it was targeted by thieves, stealing vital funds and equipment.
Halifax Security and H&J Hitchen Electrical and Air Conditioning Contractors decided to team up to provide and install a new intruder alarm system at Sunnybank Pre School, Greetland, after they heard about their break in.
Thieves hit the centre on Saddleworth Road which operates from Greetland Academy overnight on Tuesday September 23rd and September 24th.
By Breaking in through a side entrance they stole around £300 which had been raised through fund raising events and a laptop.
Hugh Hitchen, whose son Albert attends the Greetland pre-school and runs the family firm, said: "When we heard about the break-in and how upset the children were, I decided to give Tom Pearson a call at Halifax Security as we have worked closely with them on several projects. Tom was happy to work with us again to make the pre-school a safe place.
Soon after the break in the nursery also had damage caused to their conservatory roof but the culprits were disturbed by one of the neighbours.
Tom Pearson from Halifax Security said: "When we were approached to help following the burglary, we were more than happy to assist. Schools and Children's Centres are a vital part of our community and we will do everything we can to ensure they are secure and protected."
